Pastor Brett joined First Baptist in 2017 after living in California,
Illinois, and Oregon, respectively. He has been a pastor for over
20 years in various capacities. Holding a Bachelor’s Degree
from the Moody Bible Institute and a Master’s Degree from
Wheaton Graduate School, Pastor Brett’s study of interest is
exegetical preaching and church history. He desires to be used
by God to help people to grow deep roots in Christ and to unite
with the Church for God’s glory. He has been married for over
25 years and has 9 children. His favorite hobby is eating out.
The verse that has impacted him the most in life is Galatians
2:20 (ESV). “I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I
who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the
flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave
himself for me.”

Nathan Pickens
Youth Pastor
Nathan (Nate) Pickens grew up at CFBC and returned to lead
the youth program 25 years ago. Nate attended High School
locally at VHS and received his Associates in Aviation from
Treasure Valley Community College. He then went on to earn a
business degree from Northwest Nazarene as well as studying
Bible Theology at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. He sensed
a call to ministry after volunteering with the youth program at
First Baptist. He and his wife, Katie, are parents to four
children. Nate loves to introduce teens to the love of God
through time in Scripture and in the community. Idaho is an
amazing backdrop to invite teens into God's creation through
hiking, rafting, camping, and climbing. Nate is also involved
with outreach ministry programs in local schools. Nate’s favorite
verse is Hebrews 10:24–25, “And let us consider how to stir up
one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet
together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another,
and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”
Meghan Conant
Children’s Director
Meghan joined the CFBC staff in October 2022. She moved to
the area from New Mexico with her family shortly before finding
First Baptist. This church quickly became their new church
home, full of people who feel like family. Meghan has been
helping in the church children's department since she was in
middle school and has done everything from cleaning toys to
being the Children's Ministry Director at her previous church.
She became a Christian at a young age and, because of that,
has a desire to help kids grow their faith so that they learn to
rely on God throughout their lives. Meghan and her husband
homeschool their three kids and they enjoy spending their free
time exploring the area and working in their yard. Her favorite
verses are Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways
acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths." and
Psalm 91.
Thida Lopez
Financial Secretary
Thida and her husband, John, have been married since 1995
and have 2 children. An Army brat who grew up all over the
place, Thida asked Jesus into her heart at a young age but did
not truly walk with Him until her early 30’s. She loves to spend
quality time with family and friends, including CFBC extended
family. Thida’s favorite Bible book/verse: Philippians 4:8
“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is
noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely,
whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or
praiseworthy—think about such things.”
Laurie Higer
Secretary
Laurie has been serving as the secretary of First Baptist since
2018. CFBC has a special place in her heart since her
husband, Kim, proposed to her at the end of a morning service
over 35 years ago. Laurie loves the Lord and her church family
and is delighted to get to serve as a part of the staff. Her
greatest joy is to encourage others in their faith and to see
younger believers grow and walk with their Savior. Laurie also
loves to sing and worship the Lord as a part of the worship
ministry at CFBC. Two of her favorite verses are Jeremiah
29:11, “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord,
‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you
hope and a future,’” and 1 Thessalonians 5:24, “Faithful is He
who calls you and He will do it.”
Kathy Rawleigh
Secretary
Kathy came to CFBC from Northern California in 2021 and
joined the office staff in 2023. She and her husband, Bob, have
been involved in music ministry for over forty years. Kathy now
serves as the choir director and leads worship with Bob on a
regular basis. They are grateful for the wonderful church family
they have found here at CFBC. One of Kathy’s favorite life
verses is Romans 8:28 – “And we know all things work
together for good for those who love God, who are called
according to his purpose.”
